More Changes!

Wow! Teen Central has expanded into the old Reference Room! We are gradually unpacking all the books that were boxed for the move, and putting them on the new shelves. Our magazine shelves haven’t arrived yet, but it’s soooo nice to have room for the books. No more using a crowbar and hammer to fit them onto the shelves! Fantasy has moved into the old area, and SciFi will follow. Comix are gradually taking over the back wall of the new section, and manga faces them. Fiction, audiobooks, biography, nonfiction and mystery are also on the new shelves. Can’t find something? Reference is now at the old Children’s desk area – we’re happy to help! If a book you want hasn’t been unboxed yet, we’ll help you place a reserve to get it from another library. Come see – and take a look at the new Twilight posters, too!

Changes, changes!

Stop by Teen Central to see our new wall! Yes, a giant wall has sprouted by the paperback spinners, and another one by the CD rack. The sheetrock installer was amazing to watch – he spackled the seams while on high stilts. He said it took him about six months to get good at maneuvering on them. Cool job!

Eventually there will be seating inside our new “cave.” For now, the books have been moved around a quite bit. If you need help finding anything, ask the Reference librarians. Every day something changes!

About the Book
Teen conservationists Semi, Miranda, and Arnie board a plane bound for the Ecuadorian rainforest. As part of a prize-winning team gathered by the TV show Planet Savers, they begin an amazing hands-on ecology experience. But their trip-of-a-lifetime quickly becomes a fight for survival as they find themselves on a remote island, the only survivors of a devastating plane crash. And this is no ordinary island - it is the home of a mad scientist, anxious for subjects for his ghastly experiments. Unfortunately for Semi, Miranda, and Arnie, the three teens are the perfect candidates for his interspecies tests.

Touring Exhibit of Student Work.

The Arts & Education Center presents the Middlesex County Arts High School and Arts Middle School 2007-08 Touring Exhibit of Student Work. Eleven terrific artworks by area students are on display in Teen Central for the month of March, which happens to be Youth Art Month.

Drop by Teen Central for a closer look! * Remember that the library has hundreds of books on famous art and artists, plus how-to books on all sorts of art and craft techniques. Our giant art books are in the Fine Arts Oversize collection, on the low wooden shelves near shelf 9. Be careful – some are weightlifter material! Ask at the reference desk for how-to books on painting, collage, sculpture, jewelry-making, and crafts. After all, it is Youth Art Month – why not be creative yourself?
